2024 Lexus GX550 Overtrail Review

The Lexus GX has been one of the leaders of the luxury full-size SUV class ever since its inception. It has achieved massive success for its on- and off-road capabilities, reliability, and luxury. Now, its third generation is on its way to dealerships in the form of the 2024 Lexus GX.

The following is a look at its purpose-built off-road oriented trim, the 2024 GX Overtrail:

Powertrain and Numbers

The Lexus GX550 Overtrail comes with a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that is good for 349 hp and 449 lb-ft. It is mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels, all the time. The Overtrail model is expected to tow up to 8000 lbs., the GX’s maximum.

The EPA has not rated this vehicle yet, but Lexus has given us the estimate. The company expects the 2024 GX models with this engine to achieve up to 17 mpg combined. This will be more than the previous model as well.

Interior and Technology

You get an eye-soothing interior on the all-new GX Overtrail 2024 and it is very sophisticated, built from the finest materials on the planet. Lexus has made the new model even larger so there’s even more room in the cabin. The trunk space is very capacious as well.

The GX550 Overtrail comes with a variety of features including a 14.0-inch infotainment system compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch instrumentation screen, and a heated leather-trimmed steering wheel.

The safety department is stacked, containing features such as automated emergency braking (w/pedestrian detection), lane-departure warning (w/lane-keeping assist), adaptive cruise control (w/lane-centering), and a panoramic view monitor (w/multi-terrain view).

Exterior and Driving

The 2024 Lexus GX comes with an all-new boxy design that gives you the perfect blend of retro stylings with a variety of modern stylings. The Overtrail trim features some off-road goodies that give it a distinct look.

It features fatter tires for off-roading, 18-inch wheels, a protective skid plate, and off-road suspension that allows for the wheels to articulate more. The exterior colors available on it are the following ones:

We’re waiting for the experts to test this one out. One thing’s for sure and that’s the expected off-road prowess of the 2024 GX Overtrail. It certainly has the power and accessories to conquer the great outdoors in style. Its multi-terrain modes and crawl control features will help.

Reliability and Warranty

We haven’t got the reliability ratings for the 2024 Lexus GX yet. We do know that it will have a limited warranty of 4 years/50k miles, a powertrain warranty of 6 years/70k miles, and you’ll also get complimentary maintenance for 1 year/10k miles.

Verdict

Despite the limited information, it’s easy to see that the 2024 GX550 Overtrail is a solid premium SUV and a great off roader. It’s powerful and can tow a lot, and it’s full of high-end materials and technology. You get many accessories that set it up for the trail as well.
